MY NAME IS GERTIE
I’m a mermaid, and I live with my Mumma in a sea cave just a few miles from the Sussex coast. Mumma is a great cook. Her recipe for seaweed bread is amazing! She’s also very bossy, and a bit of a worrier, but we love each other, and have a great time with our many friends including all the wonderful sea creatures who live nearby.

Did I mention that I’m very adventurous? I can’t resist exploring and going to places that I probably shouldn’t. I love visiting the coast and watching all you landfolk going about your business. It’s so exciting to see all the twinkly lights at night, and to watch the boats, and paddle-boards, and kites-surfers in the daytime. There’s just so much to see! I’ve even been up one or two of the rivers and made friends with some actual land people. I don’t know how you get by with those leg things, but I expect it’s something you’re used to.
